Submit your favorite homebrew recipes for our collaboration beer!

We are brewing a collaboration beer with our friends at Company Brewing. The beer will be sold as part of FemFest 2016.

FemFest is an annual festival and fundraiser in the Riverwest community in Milwaukee, celebrating talented and strong women though music, art and poetry. The 2016 fest will be held January 21-14, 2016.It’s time to dust off your beer recipes and submit your favorites for consideration for our collaboration brew!

Submit your favorite recipes to us via email (barleysangelsmke@gmail.com) by FRIDAY, DECEMBER 4.
All submitted recipes will be put to a vote December 5-8. Stay tuned to our Facebook page and website for more details.

Brew day for the collaboration beer will take place on Dec 19th at Company Brewing. We’ll start at 11 and end by 6 pm. Join us!

December Meeting: Historic Pabst Brewery Tour!

Join us for the Historic Pabst Brewery Tour. We’ll enjoy a historical guided tour that will take us back to 1844 when Best & Company was born to present day. Tour fee includes a 16 oz. Pabst or Schlitz tap. Cost for the tour is $8. Event starts at 6 pm, tour departs at 6:30 pm.

We’ll meet at The Best Place at the Pabst, located at 901 W Juneau Ave in Milwaukee. Please RSVP via Facebook.

Join us November 12th for our Annual Beer Dinner!

We are very excited to announce that our 3rd Annual November Meeting Beer dinner this year will be a four-course beer pairing at Rumpus Room! The very creative chefs at Rumpus Room are putting together a delicious four-course feast, expertly paired with beers.

The meeting will take place at Rumpus Room, located at 1030 N. Water Street in Milwaukee. The cost for this event will be $40 per person. Social hour begins at 6 pm, with dinner at 7 pm.

As always, Barley’s Angels events are for the ladies only. We have an attendance cap of 50 women for this event. You must reserve your spot by purchasing a free ticket via Eventbrite for this event.

BJCP Classes Starting in September

Interested in learning more about beer or embarking on the journey to become a BJCP (Beer Judge Certification Program) judge? Classes for the 2015 – 2016 Sensory Analysis and BJCP training program are beginning in September. 

Registration is now open for the first two classes. Additional classes will be posted in the coming weeks. To learn more about the 2015 – 2016 program head over to www.bjcpmke.com. All classes are $10.00 and conducted at Northern Brewer in Milwaukee on Saturday mornings. Sizes are limited. Classes are taught by BJCP National and Master ranked judges including a BJCP Exam Director and a BJCP Assistant Education Director.

Announcing Barley’s Angels Bierklasse Series at Cafe Centraal! 

We are really excited to announce that we are partnering with Emily Erler, Bierklasse Director at The Lowlands Group, for a series of 6 classes throughout the fall, winter and spring. The classes are ladies-only and we encourage you to bring your friends!

The first class will cover Belgian Tripels and is on Tuesday, September 15th at 7 pm. Here’s the full class lineup:

  • Tuesday September 15th  – Tripels
  • Tuesday October 20th – Wild Ales
  • Tuesday November 17th – Sours
  • Tuesday January 12th – Strong Ales
  • Tuesday February 16th – The Trappists
  • Tuesday March 15th – Saisons

Each class will start at 7 pm and will be held at Cafe Centraal, located at 2306 S Kinnickinnic Ave in Bay View. The cost for each class is $30 per person (the Trappist class is $45). Each class includes snacks, Welcome Bier and class biers.

August Meeting: Baltic Porter Style Session at The Malt Shoppe!

The Malt Shoppe in Tosa will host us for August. They will take us through a style session focused on Baltic Porters. Baltic Porter is a high alcohol, sweet, robust porter that originated in the Baltic states. Baltic Porter reflects both the character of original British Porters and the character of sweeter, highly alcoholic Russian Imperial Stouts. Come learn all about this beer style!
