We are headed to Company Brewing in Riverwest for our October meeting. We’ll meet on Thursday, October 8th with social hour starting at 6 pm, meeting at 7 pm. Interested in learning more about beer or embarking on the journey to become a BJCP (Beer Judge Certification Program) judge? Classes for the 2015 – 2016 Sensory Analysis and BJCP training program are beginning in September. 

Registration is now open for the first two classes. Additional classes will be posted in the coming weeks. To learn more about the 2015 – 2016 program head over to www.bjcpmke.com. All classes are $10.00 and conducted at Northern Brewer in Milwaukee on Saturday mornings. Sizes are limited. Classes are taught by BJCP National and Master ranked judges including a BJCP Exam Director and a BJCP Assistant Education Director.

We are really excited to announce that we are partnering with Emily Erler, Bierklasse Director at The Lowlands Group, for a series of 6 classes throughout the fall, winter and spring. The classes are ladies-only and we encourage you to bring your friends!

The first class will cover Belgian Tripels and is on Tuesday, September 15th at 7 pm. Here’s the full class lineup:

• Tuesday September 15th  – Tripels
• Tuesday October 20th – Wild Ales
• Tuesday November 17th – Sours
• Tuesday January 12th – Strong Ales
• Tuesday February 16th – The Trappists
• Tuesday March 15th – Saisons

Each class will start at 7 pm and will be held at Cafe Centraal, located at 2306 S Kinnickinnic Ave in Bay View. The cost for each class is $30 per person (the Trappist class is $45). Each class includes snacks, Welcome Bier and class biers.

We are headed to Sprecher for our September meeting. We’ll meet on Thursday, September 3rd starting at 6 pm. Tours, beer samples and lots of fun are in store! Sprecher is located at 701 W. The Malt Shoppe in Tosa will host us for August. They will take us through a style session focused on Baltic Porters. Baltic Porter is a high alcohol, sweet, robust porter that originated in the Baltic states. Baltic Porter reflects both the character of original British Porters and the character of sweeter, highly alcoholic Russian Imperial Stouts. Come learn all about this beer style!

Capacity for this event is limited to 20 people. You will need to reserve your space via Eventbrite.  Cost for the event is $15. Social hour at 6 pm, meeting at 7 pm.

For July, our chapter co-founder Meagan will be back with samples of her beers from New Holland! We’ll meet at the brand new Milwaukee Burger Company in Franklin, with 39 tap beers and a great food menu!

Sarah from O’so is joining us with a sampling of O’so beers, including a taproom-only surprise! Three Cellarsin Franklin will be hosting us. Three Cellars is located at 7133 S 76th St. in Franklin, WI. The cost for this meeting is $5.

The meeting is Thursday, June 4th, beginning with social hour at 6 pm, meeting at 7 pm.

It’s a Barley’s Angels Bottle Share! Bring a minimum of one bomber or 2-3 bottles to share with the group – favorite beer, homebrew, something special from the cellar – take your pick!

We’ll meet at Pizzeria 3301 at Villa Palermo, located at 3301 W. Canal St., Milwaukee, WI. Palermo’s will provide us with free pizza (vegetarian options available)!

We will have new shirts and water bottles available for purchase at the April meeting. The shirts are $20 and are available in sizes small through extra large (men’s sizing). The water bottles are $10 and are stainless steel with a black logo. Purchase a shirt and a water bottle for $28! We will accept cash and PayPal.
